I've knitted a pair of red and pink mittens with squirrels on them! Under the cut is a long, in-depth account with a photograph of the final product.
Here are the bare bones of the project:
Needles Used: 1.25 mm DPRN
Yarn: 1ball of pink patons four-ply I picked up from a local store and one pall of red patons four-ply I picked up at the same time because I liked the colour compliments.

I spent the past two weeks watching every episode of the A&E series Hornblower I could get my hands on (which I've been wanting to do for quite some time). The title of this post derives from what my mum says every time she asks me what I'm doing, and I respond "watching Hornblower." Really, if it were a real person's name, I'd say Horatio Hornblower was an unfortunate name, even if it's full of tasty alliteration. Since Hornblower is actually the surname of a fictional character, I'd say that this probably gives us an insight into how freaking homo he is. Which of course, is not a bad thing. Especially since Horatio sort of sounds quite a bit like fellatio. I'm aware that I'm probably about the 9,000,000,000th person to point, don't worry.
So, you ask, "after watching the series, are you going to read the books now, Saskia?" The answer to that question is, no, no I'm not. I won't because of all the complaining people who read the books and then saw the series did. Their main complaint was a change in Horatio's character. That book!Hornblower would never explain what he was doing, especially to a subordinate. This person was particularly outraged. Now, first I'd like to say, if Hornblower never explains himself in a book that works, but on film, then shit would be happening and the audience would all be dumstruck as to why. Only Hornblower would know, and it'd all appear in the form of a cheesy voice over. Really, the character change was necessary to make the jump from novel to television work. Now that I've beaten around the subject as far as possible, I'll come back to it. I actually like the way Hornblower treats his subordinates and lets people in on things. It's a very endearing part of the character, that, if it doesn't appear in the books, well I don't think I'd enjoy them, no matter how much more canon they are. Sorry.

So I come back from winter break and guess what the first thing I do is? Download the three episodes of Torchwood I missed, am I predictable or what? Anyway I had some fun capping the finale and then turning that into icons. 15 to be exact,
